The Year of St. Joseph

On December 8, 2020 the Holy Father Pope Francis promulgated the year of St. Joseph which will last until December 8, 2021. I have to say I am so grateful that the Holy Father promulgated the Year of St. Joseph. St. Maximilian Kolbe says: “With the exception of the Blessed Mother, St. Joseph stands above all the saints.”

Because of this great year of St Joseph, as a parish we will offer many events in honor of him.

  • When it is permitted, the parish will offer the votive Mass of St. Joseph every Wednesday. At end the of Mass, we will offer the litany of St. Joseph.
  • The Traditional Latin Mass will be offered on the Solemnity of St. Joseph, March 19th, at 7:30PM.
  • Within the year of St. Joseph, I would like to present a series about him.
  • The Seven Sundays of St. Joseph begins today and lasts till the last Sunday before the Solemnity of Saint Joseph. This devotion can be found on Aleletia.org which can be done privately.

A devotional book that I recommend is Favorite Prayers of Saint Joseph. Fr. Donald Calloway’s book, Consecration to St. Joseph, which I am currently reading, is a wonderful spiritual preparation to incorporate one’s heart to St. Joseph.

He truly is a saint that all Christians can aspire to. He is a perfect guide and example for husbands, fathers, religious, laborers, and all Catholics who have a tender love for Jesus and Mary. As it is said in the Book of Genesis, Go to Joseph! He will never steer you wrong.

The following prayer is a prayer that the Holy Father prays everyday. This prayer is taken from his apostolic letter to the Church titled Patris Corde:

Glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph, whose power makes the impossible possible, come to my aid in these times of anguish and difficulty. Take under your protection the serious and troubling situations that I commend to you, that they may have a happy outcome. My beloved father, all my trust is in you. Let it not be said that I invoked you in vain, and since you can do everything with Jesus and Mary, show me that your goodness is as great as your power. Amen

In Jesus, Mary, and Joseph
